HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Johnson Central ‘golden’ in district clash with Letcher

Johnson Central flexed its muscles against Letcher Central in the battle for first place as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 48-18 win at Cougar Field on Friday night.

The Golden Eagles, now 7-2, rushed for 450 yards. Running back Chase Price ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries while quarterback Grant Rice finished with 96 yards and two scores on eight rushes.

Running back Matt Crum added a touchdown run. He added 80 yards on 12 rushes. Ryan Rice returned a fumble 22 yards for a score.

LCC quarterback Carson Adams passed for 170 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 79 yards and a score.

Johnson Central has now beaten Letcher Central in all five meetings.

Both teams will return to action on Friday night as the Golden Eagles travel to Belfry (4-5) and the Cougars play at Bourbon County (4-5). Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
