
Letcher Central turned big plays into a big district road when as the Cougars edged Whitley County, 35-31, on Friday night.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak and moved the Cougars to 5-4.
Running back Brett Smith carried eight times for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Peyton Combs and Quinton Williams each passed for a score. Smith returned a kickoff 80 yards to paydirt.
Receiver Keaston Branham hauled in a 52-yard TD pass and Smith added a six-yard catch and score.
The Cougars will close out regular season play against Belfry (6-3) at home on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
