Letcher Central used a strong second-half performance to pull away from Rockcastle County for a 27-8 victory at Cougar Field on Friday night.
Cougar quarterback Carson Adams had a big night, rushing for a pair of touchdowns and throwing for another. He had TD runs of two and seven yards. Trevor Branham hauled in the 33-yard scoring strike. Isaac Matthews ran 24 yards for a touchdown.
Letcher Central finished with 256 total yards, including 157 yards on the ground.
The Cougars (1-0) will host Pike County Central (0-1) this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Pineville quarterback Reece Capps passed for 143 yards and one touchdown and ran for 115 yards to help the Mountain Lions to a 48-24 victory over East Ridge at the Reservation on Friday night.
Running back Devon Morris added 197 yards and four rushing touchdowns. Noah Caldwell ran for two scores and Landon King hauled in a TD pass.
East Ridge (0-1) will host Harlan (0-1) on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
