MTS/BWW PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mr. Football candidate Dixon runaway choice

No area football player is as electrifying as Belfry running back Isaac Dixon.

The Mr. Football candidate finished with 204 yards and three rushing touchdowns on just eight carries, all coming in the first half., as the Pirates advanced to state semifinals with a 42-0 win over Bell County.

He had TD runs of 70, 56 and 37 yards. He also returned a fumble 20 yards for a score on the game’s first play.

Dixon has been honored as this week’s Mountain Top Sports/Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week.

Other top performers this past week included:

Johnson Central standout and Mt. Football candidate Dylan Preston rushed 38 times for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Golden Eagles 28-14 victory over Corbin. Quarterback Grant Rice added 110 yards on the ground.

Paintsville running back Harris Phelps had 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Tigers 39-7 win over Hazard. Quarterback Karsten Poe added 92 yards and Luke Hyden finished with 91 yards. Both ran for a pair of touchdowns.
