MTS/BWW PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Samons takes honor following All A performance

Pikeville High school’s Rylee Samons has stepped up his game in big situations in the past for the Panthers.

He had games of 12, 20 and 25 points in helping lead the Panthers to a second straight All ‘A’ tournament championship this past week.

His effort on the court has earned him the Mountain Top Sports/Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week hoor.

Samons edged out a pair of top performers.

Johnson Central’s Ryan Rose finished with a pair of double doubles with 12 points and 13 rebounds; 15 points and 14 rebounds; and he added 17 points and seven rebounds,

Betsy Layne’s Chase Mims who had a pair of double doubles with 18 points and 12 rebounds and 12 points and 14 boards helping the Bobcats reach the championship game against the Panthers.

Special honorable mention:

Johnson Central’s Grant Rice tallied 33, 15 and 14 points.

Lawrence County’s Kensley Feltner had games of 28 and 35 points

Belfry’s Cushi Fletcher had games of 22, 21 and 15 points.

Betsy Layne’s Jordan Frazier had back-to-back games of 20 points.

Lawrence Couty’s Trenton Adkins and Cody Maynard were names to the Kentucky 2A all-tournament team following their play.

Belfry’s Sal Dean scored 23 and 17 points while Tykee Peterson added games of 20 and 18 points.

Martin County’s Brady Dingess scored 24 and 25 points in the All ‘A’ tournament.

Paintsville’s Emilea Preece scored 16, 19 and 21 points.
