HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Hawks drop home matchup with Tigers

Pike Central’s fourth quarter comeback fell short as Clay County escaped with a 36-28 win in a game played at the Hawks Nest on Friday night.

Running back Matt Anderson, who had been sidelined with an injury the team’s first three weeks, returned and rushed for 186 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns as Central fell to 1-3.

Quarterback Tayvian Boykins passed for one touchdown and ran for another. He had 46 yards passing and rushedor 134 yards on 27 carries.

Curt Anderson hauled in three passes for 41 yards and one score.

Pike Central will host Harlan County (1-3) on Sept. 17. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
