HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Hawks turn away Jaguars in thriller

Pike Central stopped a two-point conversion run by Floyd Central with two seconds remaining to score a wild 30-28 district win in a game played at the Hawks Nest on Friday night. 

The two teams scored 28 points in the game’s final five minutes. 

Running back Matt Anderson rushed for 300 yards and four touchdowns as Pike Central snapped a four-game losing streak and beats the Jaguars for a sixth straight time. 

Floyd Central running back BJ Petersen ran for 110 yards and a pair of scores on 14 carries. Colt Shelton and Sheston Johnson added rushing touchdowns. 

Floyd Central (0-6) will play at Belfry (3-3) on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm. The Hawks will play at Lawrence County (4-1) on Oct. 7. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm.
